I honestly can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of the year! I know we probably say the same thing every year but where on earth did the time go? It is truly frightening how quickly time is going.
Since I made the commitment to date nights once a week, my husband and I have done so much together! It has been such an incredible experience and while I don’t want to say I wish we’d done it sooner, because I believe things happen when they are meant to, I am just so happy that we are doing it now. If a week has gone past where we haven’t managed a date night due to circumstances, we really miss that time together and it feels like something is missing in our relationship.
I have just counted my posts about ‘Our Date Nights‘ and there are 15! That’s an average of 3 a week which I think is pretty good going. I can think of a few that I didn’t blog about as I just didn’t get there but I’m pretty impressed with us if I do say so myself. I do think next year, though, we’re going to have change things a bit as it has been rather costly but I’ll let you know all about that next year.
Anyway, I thought, with it being end of year it’s always nice to reflect back and do a bit of a round up of the year so I have decided, to list our 5 best date nights since we have started. We are basing it on our enjoyment of the date night as a couple and our memory of our experience together. I just have to say that I did this first and without telling my husband my choices, asked him for his. And…we both chose the same! Makes me feel that we’re both on the same page :))) Very chuffed by that, I must admit. So here they are in no particular order.
1. KYOTO GARDEN SUSHI.
We loved our date night here! Besides the delicious food and the romantic setting, I just remember it being such a great night together. We have said we are going to try a new place every time we go out but we could happily go back again! You can read more about that date night here.
2. BISTRO 1682
What I loved about this date night was that it was spontaneous and we just had such a good laugh that night. The food was also delish and was exactly what we were in the mood for. You can read more about that date night here.
3. DIAS TAVERN AND THE FUGARD THEATRE
What was so great about this one is that both of these experiences were new to us. We hadn’t been to either one before and together they made for such an awesome date night. You can read more about that date night here.
4. CHOCOLATE TASTING AND MEXICAN
This one was also so enjoyable as, once again, they were new to us and the chocolate tasting was something we probably never would have done if it weren’t for wanting to try different things. Running in from the rain to be greeted with that Lindt hot chocolate is something I still dream about…perfection! You can read more about that date night here.
5. A NIGHT IN KALK BAY
What we loved about this night away was that it had a little bit of everything. We stayed in a beautiful place, we ate good food, we shopped a little, we went on a walk in the mountain and we were in a good space together and had a great time. You can read more about that date night here.
Okay, so I know we said 5 but just had to put this bonus one in. Alhtough I didn’t write about it as a date night (don’t know what I was thinking!) our weekend away when we did our bike ride together was also a great one!
I am so looking forward to next year to see what’s in store for us then! 🙂
