I love April in Cape Town! It has always been one of my best times of the year. It’s warm enough to not be uncomfortably freezing all the time but cool enough to have to throw on a jersey and snuggle into bed at night. It’s the perfect weather for being outside on those beautiful Autumn sunny days as you don’t need to plan your day around the heat of the midday sun. It’s a beautiful transition from summer to winter. So, to help you along with this transition, here are some things to do for Date Nights in this beautiful month before we head into cooler days. So I know April is nearly over, but here are some Date Night ideas to see you through the rest of the month.
Monogamy at home:
Have you played the board game Monogamy? I bought it last year for research purposes, of course ;), and we tried to play it but a lot of the game requires some clothes to be taken off so it definitely is not a winter game. You could still get away with playing it in April so now’s the time to get it if you’re interested. Some of the things to do are seriously risque (well, for us anyway) but you could just have some fun with it and do what feels comfortable for you 😉 (I bought it at CNA)
I haven’t been here myself but I have heard good things about Sotano and have been wanting to get there. Their 2 for 1 burger special looks great and definitely worth a try! April might be the last month where you can still sit outside in the evenings so you might want to get there soon. You can find out more info here.
We had a really delicious meal here earlier this year. If you read that post, the one negative I had to say about it was that inside was unbearably hot and luckily we sat outside. That shouldn’t be an issue now and in fact, I think it would be quite lovely at this time of year. If you’re looking for an early dinner, they have a great special on! 2 courses for R125 and 3 courses for R150. It’s a set menu which I normally don’t love but their choices look good enough for it to be ok. You can find them here. (I wish they would update their website but don’t judge them on that).
The Olive Thrush:
If you can get as far as Prince Albert for a weekend away, I highly recommend it! We recently stayed at The Olive Thrush as I wrote about in my post, Roadtripping on the R62 and we had a lovely time! I imagine April is a beautiful time of year to be there.
Another beautiful place we stayed at was Bronze Grove in Barrydale. We went as a family so stayed in Kumba Cottage but the other cottage for 2, River Ikhaya, looks beautiful as well. Barrydale is such a sweet little town and perfect for a weekend away together.
April is the perfect month for Putt Putt down at Mouille Point beach front. Go relatively early to avoid having to wait a long time for your turn as it gets busy on weekends but it’s a fun thing to do together. You can also go for a walk hand in hand along the promenade, get an ice cream and just enjoy the sun and cool sea breeze.
Rent Bikes Along The Promenade:
I know I’ve recommended this before but seriously, if you haven’t done it yet, do it this month! It is such a great way to spend time together. Start off at the pavillion, and stop off for a coffee at Cafe Neo before making your way back again. Trust me, you’ll love it!
Galileo Open Air Cinema:
If you haven’t been before or want to go again, this is the last month for the open air cinema before those cold nights set in. I can’t believe I still haven’t actually gone (what’s up with that?!) but have only heard good things and it is still something I want to get to! You can have a look at their schedule here.
Big Wheel At The Waterfront:
Personally, I love going to the Waterfront as I always feel like a tourist there and there’s always so much going on. We went the other night and I was very tempted to go on the big wheel as it just looks so beautiful when it’s lit up at night. So, although big wheels aren’t MY thing due to my fear of heights issue, I still think it looks pretty cool. (maybe I need to conquer that one soon?).
There you have it! April Date Nights are sorted! For more Date Night ideas, you can have a look at my Date Night Ideas from previous posts or at my Date Night Ideas List at the top of this page. Also, if you need a calendar to schedule it all in, you can download my April free printable calendar here.
Do you have any other Date Night Ideas to share? Please let me know as I certainly have not listed them all. Thanks! x
