If you read my blog post, have no flipping clue what to buy your partner?, you’ll know that I said I would be doing more of these kinds of posts. The kind where I give you ideas of what to buy for your partners because sometimes it’s so damn hard to try think of something. Like I said in my other post, presents given on special occasions are great but presents given out of the blue for no reason at all are seriously the best! So, here are a few ideas to help you for whenever you decide to spoil your someone special.
Grizzly Bear Beard and Hair Products
Ok, I have to admit, I’m not so sure about the whole beard craze and at this stage I prefer my man just the way he is, with a bit of stubble and completely bald headed! However, if my husband did have a beard, I would definitely want to get him some beard balm as I think it’s a great concept. So this is for all of you with your grizzly bearded men. Grizzly Bear’s artisanal beard & hair care products are made with love by The Alchemy Club in the heart of Cape Town. Their products, which range from beard balms, beard oil, to hair wax and hair clay contain all natural, premium hair care ingredients. This is a definite plus for me as I tend to prefer going the natural, ‘no nasty chemicals in my products’ route so would want the same for my partner, wouldn’t you? Think And Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
If your man is an entrepeneur like mine is, has his own business or wants to, this is a great book to get him. I knew my husband wanted it so I bought it for him as a surprise. I love doing stuff like that! He was really happy about it as it’s been on his list of ‘must read’ books. He is still busy reading it so I can’t tell you his opinion of it quite yet but it seems to be one of ‘THE” books to read if you’re in that space. This can also be for ‘her’ as well.
Once again, this is probably not something I would get for my own man as, although I really like the way he dresses, I wouldn’t quite call him a trendoid kind of a guy. He’s more a surfer look kind of a guy. However, if your man is super trendy or socks are his thing, I think these designer socks for men are great and would make for a very cool gift. A File From Design Team
This is one of those things that I saw for myself and just had to have! I asked my husband to get it for me as he works close by so technically he bought it for me but I’m not sure if it counts as a gift? Anyway, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that if your woman, like me, loves beautiful things, then she’ll love these files (and everything else) from Design Team. Who knew a file could be so beautiful? I have to admit I detest filing things but when you have a file like this, I try make excuses for wanting to pull it out and use it. In fact, it’s on my desk all the time as this is not a file that stays hidden in the cupboard (like the rest of our files do). They have many other beautiful things in their shop at the Waterfront and are pretty reasonably priced so I really don’t think you can go wrong buying anything from here. Find what you’re looking for at the Design Team shop at the Watershed in the Waterfront.
The Course Of Love – Alain de Botton
I have just finished reading this book and I highly recommend it. If you and your partner are serious about making your relationship/marriage work and are open to real and frank discussions about your relationship and marriage, then this is a great book. My husband will be reading this next so that we can discuss the many issues and concepts that arise from this book. I love its honest and real take on what marriage is about. It is written in the form of a novel and follows the lives of two people who meet, get married, have children and don’t necessarily live happily ever after. It is interspersed with commentaries which give interesting outlook and insight into their current situations, issues and this thing we call love and marriage. You can get it at most bookstores or online.
I know this might not be very original but trust me, a woman always wants a spa voucher! Especially when it’s unexpected! If your partner has been feeling tired, overworked, or actually no matter what she’s been feeling, do her a favour and buy her a spa voucher! You don’t need to wait for birthdays or anniversaries to do this for her. Just do it now! If she has a favourite spa, get her a voucher from there. If you don’t know what’s in your area, google it. If you’re still unsure, you can’t go wrong with Sorbet which have branches in most areas in South Africa.
Let me know what you think of these gift ideas. Hate them? Love them? Feedback is most welcome and so appreciated! For more ideas, have a look at ‘Have no flipping clue what to buy for your partner?’
