We’re heading into July! Here’s what’s happening in Cape Town for Date Nights in July. If you don’t know about it yet, be sure to join our Appreciate Your Partner 30 Day Challenge which starts on the 1st July. Let’s make July a month of appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful partners we have in our lives!
Do you tell each other what you appreciate about each other? This month is all about telling your partner what you appreciate about them. If you are not joining us in the challenge, then spend some time together maybe writing it down or discussing it. What is it you most appreciate about each other?
We recently had a very cool date night at HQ. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a table in the lounge area which looked really nice and cosy but it was perfectly ok where we sat. I think the lounge area with the fireplace blazing might have been a bit more romantic and intimate as the music was quite loud where we were but I actually quite liked it as it felt very vibey. Our days of clubbing are way over so this was as about as close to it as we got. (how sad is that?!) We went for the Thursday night half price tapas special which was really worth it! We didn’t hold back on the food we ordered and our bill came to less than R300. They also have a great date night special on Tuesday nights. Definitely recommended!
La Colombe (4 July- 31 August)
La Colombe is back with their winter lunch special. I have not been to La Colombe in a very long time but I still have memories of years ago when we went. I just remember going on and on about how absolutely delicious the one prawn dish was that we had. When you remember a meal from years ago, you know it must be really good! I don’t think I need to try sell La Colombe at all..it’s La Colombe after all! Being a fine dining restaurant, it is definitely on the more expensive side of dining out which is why their winter special gives you the opportunity to dine at this exclusive award winning restaurant at a more ‘affordable’ price of R350 p/p for a 3 course meal.
Le Franschhoek Hotel And Spa
If you’re looking for somewhere special to go, and maybe you could coincide with the Franschhoek Bastille Day, Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa looks like a real treat! They have a special on at the moment where you get 20% off if you book a minimum of 2 nights.
We have stayed at Spier a couple of times before as a family and have always had such a wonderful time there. The staff are lovely and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. They currently have a great special for just the two of you so if you can get two nights away, go for it!
Cape Town Comedy Festival (20 July-16 August)
The Cape Town Comedy Festival starts on the 20 July at the Baxter Theatre. Although we haven’t been in a few years, we have been to previous comedy festivals and have usually had a good laugh. Laughter on a date night is always a good thing! 🙂
Chocolate Course (23 July)
What better time of the year to do a chocolate course than in winter? We did a chocolate course at Lindt last year which was very interesting and enjoyable. I love the look of this one, however, as it is with Honest Chocolate which is a brand that I love. They use quality raw and organically produced ingredients for their chocolate, their packaging is beautiful, their chocolate is delicious and they really do look like an ‘honest’ brand 🙂 Their next course is happening on the 23rd July at the Woodstock Exchange. You can book tickets here.
Franschhoek Bastille Day (16 & 17 July)
If you feel like venturing out of Cape Town, Bastille Day in Franschhoek is always a fun event. We were there for it many years ago (BC- before children) and I remember it being a worthwhile event with lots of things going on. Have a look at their site for more info on what it’s all about.
Studio 7 Sessions: Prime Circle & Strings (14 July)
Studio 7 Sessions are hosting an intimate and unique evening. Taking place in a 200 year old church they’ve hand picked members from the CPT orchestra to form a string ensemble to back Prime Circle. Have a look at the video of a past performance as it looks like a very special evening. Some tickets are already sold out so if you want to go, don’t hesitate and book now.
And there you have it. Another month of Date Nights sorted! As usual, if you have anything else to add, some great ideas for date nights, something you’ve done that you recommend, please let me know in the comments below. Oh, and don’t forget to Appreciate Your Partner for 30 Days!!!
