Have you been hibernating over the winter? Have you been wanting to get out for date night but not quite sure what to do? You want to do something a bit different, have fun together, get out but you don’t really know where to start looking fror ideas of what’s happening? I hear you! That’s why I’ve put together some ideas of what you can do for date nights in your city for the month of October. Now all you need to do is find what appeals to you here, commit to it and your date nights are sorted! Have fun!
Play ‘Wish List’
This month, we’re reconnecting in the bedroom (or whichever room in the house you like to ‘reconnect’ in). Make sure you establish some rules before playing this game about things that are strictly off the cards and that you’re not comfortable with. When that’s done, each of you write down three sexual things you’ve each always wanted to try on separate pieces of paper. Then fold them and mix them together. Take turns picking out a piece of paper and trying each other’s ideas out. Have fun! 😉
Tapas and cocktails at Souk
If you’re looking for ambiance, look no further than Souk on Long Street. The newly established gastropub boasts great service, good music, yummy food and a sense of coziness – perfect for an intimate date night. Plus, they offer half price cocktails until 6 p.m, from Tuesday to Friday.
Greenhouse Restaurant in Constantia (Tuesday – Saturday)
If you’re celebrating a special occasion this month, you might want to make a reservation at the Greenhouse Restaurant. Run by chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss, the restaurant uses quality local ingredients to create modern South African dining experiences. Take a look at the menu to discover some of their unusual (but probably delicious) dishes.
Vegan Feast at Massimo’s (9th October)
Vegilicious and Cape Town Vegan bring you an evening of authentic Italian cuisine at Massimo’s in Hout Bay. It’s a great opportunity to sample Massimo’s new 100% vegan menu and tickets are R160 per person.

The two-hour show features highly skilled cirque artists and performers such as contortionists and even “bubble-ologists.” During the show, you can order drinks and dinner directly to your table. Once it’s ended, it’s time to put on your dancing shoes and head to the Enchanted After Party.
Wine on the River (20th – 22nd October)
Spring is the perfect time to be outdoors. With that in mind, why not head to the Robertson Wine Valley for Wine on the River this October? Watch the banks of the Breede River come alive as winemakers, local chefs and producers come together on Goudmyn farm to create an open-air festival for wine enthusiasts of all kinds. You and your partner can spend the day enjoying the beautiful scenery, sunshine, live music and the wide array of treats and wine on offer.

The So Happy crew are proving that Halloween’s not just for kids by bringing you a ghoulish mix of music and entertainment this October (for over 21s only). The event will take place at Old Mutual Building on Darling Street and looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. The esteemed shnit Festival unites over 30,000 filmmakers and film lovers in over five continents. It runs for 12 days, encompassing more than 200 short films in various styles and genres. So I think it’s safe to say there will be something for everyone to enjoy!
