Music plays such a huge role in our lives. Ask me to remember what we did last weekend, and I can’t quite tell you. But play a song I haven’t heard in 10 or more years and I can still remember the words, where I used to listen to it, who I was with, what I was doing even. Music has that amazing ability of transporting us right back to being 15, 20 or whatever it may be. Not only remembering, but actually feeling as well. There are a few songs from my younger years which can take me right back to those moments of time in our lives; my first heart break, a first kiss with a boy I liked, a particular party…aaah…the memories.
Which is why, when it comes to our weddings, there is a lot of pressure in finding ‘The One’. That one song that you first dance to as a married couple. How do you make that choice? Is it a song you already share together, or do you just find a totally new one? For our wedding, we decided to have 2, one (Sarah McLachlan-Push) which was new to us but we liked, which I walked down the aisle to, and one (Norah Jones-Come Away With Me) which was meaningful to us and we danced our first dance to.
Our wedding was about 8 and a half years ago but I can still be transported right back there by listening to these songs.
What was your wedding song?
