This week we hear from Laura-Kim Le Roux, mommy blogger of Harassed Mom and also one half of South African Mom Blogs. which, on a personal level, has been a great support in helping me to figure out this new world of blogging. Laura is married to David, they have 4 children and live in Pretoria. Here is a little bit more about their story 🙂
How long have you and David been together?
We have been together for 6 years. We have been married for 2 and a half years.
How many children do you have and how old are they?
We have two children together – Jack is 4 and Emma is 18 months and then I have two older children – Cameron, 13 and Kiara, 11 .
How did you meet?
We met at a tweet up in a pub called Mollys in Fourways (keeping it classy). We were both rather festive that night but I clearly remember him and we started chatting on twitter afterwards and the rest is history 🙂
What was the first thing that attracted you to each other?
Despite the alcohol I clearly remember his laugh and there was a softness about him. After our first proper date I told a friend we were going to get married. He likes to tell people he chose me because I could breed, party and had nice legs.
How do you stay connected?
We make a point of getting time out together. Life with four kids, two of whom have active sports lives, can get chaotic so we have to intentionally and purposefully plan nights out or lunches or even breakfasts – we take what we can get. We also talk in bed before we fall asleep – catch up on the day etc.
If you could give any piece of relationship advice, what would it be?
COMMUNICATE! Talk and talk and talk some more especially when you don’t want to and the conversations are hard. A lot of arguments are a result of miscommunication, one partner not understanding why something is important or even what they are doing wrong according to the other one. So TALK!
Thank you so much Laura and David! I am not sure how you do it with 4 kids but from your sound advice I can get a bit of an idea. To hear more from Laura, you can find her here www.harassedmom.co.za or here www.samomblogs.co.za.
